JHAZA AMARI
School/work/education:
I graduated from El Camino College earning two degrees, one in Dance and another in General Studies, emphasis in Fine Arts. Using my degrees, I help heal psychological social trauma, promote healthier lifestyles, increase social emotional awareness, prevent bullying, and boost body image in children and adults, through the art of dance and fine arts. I help individuals find their place in the community.
Award/Honors/Recognitions Earned:
I was placed on the Meta Major board at El Camino college by the dance faculty member, Berney in the hopes of bridging the gap amongst dance, fashion, and cosmetology. The program gives students a degree that allows them to teach dance, work in a salon, and/or partake in the fashion industry, as a designer or merchandiser. I play a huge role in the church, as a former youth pastor and Lead choreographer. Today I simply use my prophetic gifts in the dance ministry at my current church. In addition, I have completed the 26.2 LA marathon in 8 hours, worked with Disney, Louis Vuitton, Vogue Italia, and Essence magazine. I look forward to what my future brings.
Goals/Aspirations:
I would love to obtain a brick and mortar space for AFIT Models Management opportunities starting in Inglewood, CA.
Clubs/Organizations/Sports:
I've been professionally trained in dance since the age of 9. My sports include tennis and track and field. I ran the 4x4, long jump, 400, 800, and 200 meter race. Some organizations I am a part of are AFIT Models - Dance Movement, and JhaCare Of The Arts, Ratchet-Zumba, where I am the CEO and founder of these organizations.
Initiatives/Community service/Platform:
I try to give back through instructing dance, modeling, and yoga with the intention to build self confidence in our youth. I work in my community with Kaos Network, Queen Aminah's , and Hot & Cool Cafe in Leimert Park with Black Owned businesses to help heal psychological social trauma. I personally work with foster, drug exposed, and special needs children to help them be expressive and learn to navigate through life. The impact starts in your local communities.
Interesting facts about me:
-
I've been certified to work with children since the age of 16
-
I had a zoom meeting with the Mayor of Gardena, Tasha Cerda in 2020 to talk about implementing more arts in the community with AFIT Models.

If I were to be any animal or insect in the world, I would be a butterfly because they are the most beautiful, soulful, and free insects I feel most connected to.
Who is your favorite celebrity/ Influencer that you follow:
Jesus and Beyonce.
Since I was a little girl, I loved how Beyonce showed up in the world as a black female artist, dancer, actress, and well rounded performer. She took inspiration from people she admired and became the best version of herself. Throughout the years, she branded her style, her sound, and her overall image. She is hard working and most importantly, she competed in pageants as well! Jesus, the son of God died on the cross for my sins. How can I not idolize him?
